Welcome to IMA South Africa

Your gateway to a unique global professional network

The IMA journey

International Management Assistants (IMA) is a global network of management support professionals, with a remarkable history that spans more than four decades.

Founded in 1974 as the European Association for Professional Secretaries, the organisation has evolved to keep pace with the changing dynamics of the profession.

In 1999, the members chose to adopt the name EUMA - European Management Assistants, reflecting their commitment to the European context. In 2016, the organisation embraced its global identity and was renamed the IMA - International Management Assistants.

In 2018, IMA South Africa NPC was established with just 11 members, and since then, we have flourished into a thriving community with over 60 members in 2024. Our dynamic group predominantly comprises individuals from South Africa, with additional members from neighbouring countries, fostering diversity across various sectors and enterprises.
