Welcome to IMA South Africa

Where your professional journey connects with a global community.

At IMA South Africa, you’re not just joining a network - you’re becoming part of a supportive, inspiring community of professionals who understand your role and your ambitions.

We are proud to be part of International Management Assistants (IMA), a respected global organisation established in 1974. Today, IMA connects over 1,300 management support professionals across more than 20 countries, giving you access to a truly international network of peers and opportunities.

Closer to home, IMA South Africa began its journey in 2018 with just 11 passionate members. Since then, we have grown into a vibrant and diverse community representing management support professionals from across South Africa and the broader African continent - each bringing unique insights, experiences and energy to the network.

Our focus is you - your growth, your development and your voice within the profession. Through meaningful connections, relevant training and engaging events, we create spaces where you can learn, share and thrive.

We are committed to:

  • fostering genuine connections;
  • encouraging continuous learning;
  • sharing knowledge and best practice; and
  • elevating the profile of management support professionals.

Whether you’re looking to expand your network, develop new skills, or simply feel more connected in your role, IMA South Africa is here to support you every step of the way.

    Global & National Governance

Input from every country is invited each year during the Council Meeting. Members are encouraged to get involved by attending their National AGMs as well as the Global Annual Meeting.

    IMA is a non-political, self-development organisation.

    IMA South Africa is registered as a Non-Profit Company (NPC) in South Africa: 2017/585475/08.

    This full-day, in-person Training Day combines focused leadership development with valuable networking opportunities. Designed for a larger audience, the event will be facilitated by two experienced presenters and offers an engaging, interactive learning experience.

    As a larger-scale event with dual facilitation and expanded networking opportunities, the registration fee is slightly higher than that of the Learning Labs. The programme focuses on strengthening leadership presence, influence and strategic contribution when operating in a supporting role to senior executives.

    Learning Labs

    Practical, in-person professional development sessions designed specifically for Assistants and Office Professionals who support leadership in dynamic environments.

    Upcoming Sessions

    Cape Town and Johannesburg sessions are repeated where applicable to allow for regional participation. All Learning Labs carry the same registration fee to support consistent budgeting, and attendance is intentionally limited to ensure meaningful interaction and practical application.
